So we got a referral to the ENT. We go back (yet again) to the pediatrician Monday morning to re-check him and they will follow him until we can get into the ENT (I got the referral at 5:05 and the office was already closed so i have to call Monday morning - they open at 8:30).

So that's where we are at right now. Looks like we're headed for tubes... but I am ready and happy if it will make him better.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04018600069760727862noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6804494526605031324.post-52767900414216196282009-03-04T23:02:00.002-05:002009-03-04T23:16:23.259-05:00latest status....Owen has a raging double ear infection again. Lots of pus (eww) and she even used an otoscope with a bulb on a tube to blow air into his ear and check for movement and there wasn't any. So Owen got a painful shot (yes a shot, it goes so slow and hurts and from what I hear REALLY expensive) of Rocephin. He goes back tomorrow at 4 for another shot and look in his ear. And again on Friday (she thinks he will likely need all 3 shots) at 4 for his final shot. I asked about the ENT and she said that after this gets taken care of, they'll refer me over. I dunno why they wait but as long as my baby don't hurt....

Hunter, I brought along because he said his head hurt and said his right ear hurt a few times. Today of course he said he felt fine and nothing hurt. Well, I brought him anyway. Yup! A double ear infection (3 in a row for him and 4 in a row for Owen if you are keeping score)! So, he's on Omnicef for 10 days.

So, Cole still has 2 days left of his Amoxi pills (1 pill 2 times a day), Hunter takes 1 teaspoon of Omnicef 1 time a day for 9 more days, and Own has 2 more days of shots. Phew! I hope they feel good enough to enjoy this weekend... Sunday is supposed to be just about 80 degrees (keep in mind this morning when I checked the weather before getting the kids dressed it was a a balmy 17 degrees!)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04018600069760727862noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6804494526605031324.post-85980365558496848122009-03-04T13:15:00.003-05:002009-03-04T13:17:39.526-05:00...Well, the nurse said to make an appointment (which is scheduled for 2:40 this afternoon with Dr. Nina Verdino)...

Hunter says his head hurts today so I am gonna bring him in along with Owen just to peek at things.

Wish us luck! If Owen has an ear infection, we're gonna be referred to an ENT.. I kinda hope he does just so something can happen so he'll be back to himself!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04018600069760727862noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6804494526605031324.post-14963807879719416242009-03-04T06:55:00.002-05:002009-03-04T06:59:00.735-05:00My little O....He's been pretty consistently running a fever of 102.5 (and it goes down to 101.5 but no lower). Yesterday he woke up after a 13-hour sleep with help from me. He stayed awake for 4-1/2 hours. He took another nap and again I had to wake him up.. This nap was over 4 hours long! I made him get up at 5:15. I figured he'd be up late but by 8pm, he was asleep for the night! I temped him last night because he was whining i his sleep and he was feverish even after Tylenol. I am gonna call the nurses line when they open. My poor baby.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04018600069760727862noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6804494526605031324.post-59934048842126739782009-03-03T12:54:00.003-05:002009-03-03T13:02:53.508-05:00I think this should be changed to a sick blog...Seems all I can get on here to do is update my kids' illnesses!

Let's see.. yesterday Owen was kinda groggy. I brought Hunter in for his 2-week recheck and dragged Cole along. Hunter hasn't had any fevers and she took a long look (thank you Nurse Camplin) and he still has fluid in both his ears but it is very clear. I had her peek into Cole and she said the one ear still has yellow fluid. I mentioned his fevers and she said it could be anything. She said she's seen kids with Strep & mono, strep & ear infections, Flu & mono.... there are so many things going around, it's hard to tell. But he still has days left on his Amoxi. I should add today is day 2 Hunter said he had a headache (points kinda right between his eyes).

Then last night after kids wen to bed, Hunter came out and told us his right ear hurt. He got Tylenol and wet to bed.

They were up early again (yay)today (Tuesday the 3rd of March). Owen slept until 8:30 when I prodded him awake. He was kinda money all day. Hunter complained his right ear hurt again.

I took temps at 12:45 there were: Cole - 99.0, Hunter - 99.9, and Owen - 101.8. I gave Owen some Tylenol and he will take his nap in a few.

This is just getting ridiculous...
oh - and can ya tell wake county to stop cancelling school!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04018600069760727862noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6804494526605031324.post-21514092627987356282009-02-28T11:32:00.002-05:002009-02-28T11:37:37.405-05:00How do the kids "measure" up?Cole was born 6 days late at 7 pounds 6 ounces & 20.5 inches.
At 1 year he was 25 pounds 10 ounces and 32.5 inches.
Cole was on the charts for weight (barely) but off for height.

Hunter was born 23 days early at 7 pounds .2 ounces & 20 inches.
At 1 year he was 26 pounds 7 ounces and 32 inches (and his head was 48cm).
Hunter was off the charts for all his measurements.

Owen was born 11 days late at 8 pounds 4.9 ounces & 21.5 inches.
At 1 year he was 21 pounds 5 ounces and 31.25 inches (and 46cm head).
Owen was in between 75th and 90th percentile for height but 25th for weight and his head is now above 95th percentile?? I have been awake for 2 hours thanks to Owen (who is now finally asleep).

I thought we were kinda fine. We made it from 8pm to 3:15am without a peep (yay!) and then he woke up crying and I tried to let him lull himself but nope. So, I made a 7 ounce bottle. He drank it all and was still whining and crying and ugh! I made another bottle (a 4 ounce) just before 5:00 am and changed his full pee-pee diaper. He fussed but now finally seems to have gotten to sleep.

Last time this crap happened he had an ear infection. I so ope this isn't #3 in the last 2 months!

As for Cole, he went to bed with hives still but had taken 2 benadryl quick melt tablets. So, he's sleeping pretty soundly and he has a 10:10am doctor's appointment if we still need it.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04018600069760727862noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6804494526605031324.post-17790287421974317642009-02-23T11:30:00.005-05:002009-02-24T05:09:10.903-05:00more?Well... Yesterday there was NO poop (there was a shocker) and today we had a NORMAL poo! YAY!

Hunter has a double ear infection. He had 2 glasses of juice and a half of an apple along with his medicine and an hour or so later... BLECH! He napped for awhile and he just ate lunch and seems fine... feverish but belly is OK. I dunno if he isnt' agreeing with this medication or what (Amoxi/Clav liquid). I sure know he hates the way it tastes. I feel bad.....

I'm trying really hard to get the sick outta this house.. Only thing is, last week or so he wake up at night and needs a bottle. Last night he had 4 (between 7 pm and 6 am)... so it's weird.

Today, he hasn't even pooped once!

n another note, all the kids are sick. Cole has a slight cough and stuffy nose. Owen's is a bit runny but nothing major. Hunter's was runny with clear stuff and now its thick and green and his little cough is now a big one. He also is running a fever. So, he goes to the doctor at 1:30 today.

Ellie called it... for kids who were NEVER sick, they can't seem to get better lately! It's ridiculous!

Of course at my feet right now is a screeching Owen. But doctor's swear nothing is wrong with him!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04018600069760727862noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6804494526605031324.post-22747312783069737592009-02-14T18:22:00.001-05:002009-02-14T18:24:09.813-05:00Getting there?Well... so far its only 5 poops. 2 of them not QUITE as liquid. He did eat well today. I don't know if tat added to the little bit less liquid. I dunno. We'll so how tonight and tomorrow goes.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04018600069760727862noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6804494526605031324.post-4857195099831072372009-02-14T14:42:00.002-05:002009-02-14T14:45:37.172-05:00it's now been 2 WEEKS!Well, yesterday ended with 8 poops. He was kinda cranky too.

Today (the 14th) i was kinda happy for. Granted he again woke up at 5:15 am and was super scary but no poop until about 8:30. But then before his nap, which is at 1pm, he had another 3. He seems to be very hungry today but wow has he been a crank-pot!

Last night and today he had a super-low-grade fever.. maxing out at 99.9.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04018600069760727862noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6804494526605031324.post-79357135848165958582009-02-13T12:17:00.002-05:002009-02-13T12:23:58.293-05:00i dunno if this will ever end!OK... Still more poop!

Monday totalled out at 9.

Tuesday was 8. Tuesday the 10th, we went to the doctor. Both his and Hunter's ears are perfect and all care. She thinks the Omnicef screwed up his insides that bad (maybe) or he had a virus and they run its course in 2 weeks. But what she found weird is it isn't getting any better. So he get acidophilus stuff in his bottle(s) to help with the Omnicef remnants if it is that.. and we sent in 4 jars of poop which got sent out to the labs yesterday (the 12th).

So we wait.

His birthday went over fine..... he had a blast. We had maybe 7 poops.

Yesterday the 12th, we had about 9 poos.

Today, so far we are up to 5! He had been cranky and screaming and I dunno. He pulls at his left ear and rubs the left part of his face sometimes. Something is NOT right!

So Monday, i its still liquid poop and so many times a day, and the labs come back fine, then we have to figure something out! I will demand blood work and seeing an allergist. I know he's lost weight... we'll find out tomorrow how much!

He pooped this morning (liquid). and when I got him home after errands... He pooped SOOOO much... it was liquid and he sat down and it was all over the wood (squirted out). Then I put him on a pillowcase on the floors to change him and it all oozed out the side (HUGE pile) and out the back (so up his back).. It was the MOST he's had a once so far! So nasty!

He has his re-check tomorrow (as does Hunter for their ears) so they will be advised that something needs be done for this kid! Something isn't fight! It can't be a virus that no one else in the house got!

I just want my Owen all better. At his 1-year visit he is gonna weigh so little because he lost so much weight (his well-check is the 20th).... I mean this poor kid is gonna feel crappy on his 1st birthday (Wednesday) which totally sucks! :(

ETA: He pooped again. :(Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04018600069760727862noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6804494526605031324.post-78620589832910155822009-02-08T20:59:00.003-05:002009-02-08T21:00:25.780-05:00... and will the poop ever stop?Today was pretty good actually. He as a complete crank after that until about 6:30.

I should add he had 7 poopie diapers (1 exploded out but luckily he had on pants so I saved me floors) still liquidy.

Well, he woke at 5:45 and was hungry. I made him 8oz and went to give it to him and he had poop again. So I changed poop, he drank his bottle and went back to sleep (it was dark out).

He's still asleep although with his psycho brothers being up before 6 as well, I don't know how!

Monday I think I am gonna demand blood work be done on him. This isn't normal!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04018600069760727862noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6804494526605031324.post-74559841743045884482009-02-06T12:23:00.003-05:002009-02-10T06:39:11.376-05:00... and it goes on ...Well, no puke last night (1st time in 6 nights). He woke up and had a few ounces of formula. He didn't want breakfast. I offered him juice and still wasn't impressed. He took a nap on the floor after being a total crab. After he wake up, he had a poo explosion! I cleaned him up and gave him a bath. He happily then played naked on my clean bed. I offered him another bottle and he pooped again. So 2 liquid poopies so far today. He drank maybe an ounce of juice and 8 ounces of formula so far (normally i would be close to 16 ounces plus juice plus breakfast and snack). He has been much sign on a few Multigrain Cheese puffs.... hey, at least it's something!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04018600069760727862noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6804494526605031324.post-52525025489882356732009-02-05T14:10:00.002-05:002009-02-05T14:34:58.289-05:00What's wrong with Owen?Let's start at the beginning.

January 23rd - Tom came home sick from work. He ended up vomiting and spent the day and night in bed sleeping.
January 24th - I got sick as did Owen. Owen just wasn't up to par and I ended up vomiting and slept most of the 2nd half of the day.
January 25th - recouping day
January 27th - brought Hunter to the doctor and had a 9.5 (out of 10) ear infection. He started Amoxi chewables.
January 30th - Owen still runs a fever off and on and tugs at his ears and puked all over dad.
January 31st - Own went to the doctor. He had a double ear infection. Started Omnicef. Threw up that night.
February 1st - About 9 liquidy poopie diapers. Throw up again at night.
February 2nd - not eating much, still liquidy poo, and threw up at night.
February 3rd - threw up at lunch-time. Went back to doctor. Still has fluid in ears but not infected. Stopped Omnicef. Throw up at night.
February 4th - eat a little better. last meal was at 5:30 (1 jar baby food and a little dessert). Bed at 7:15 and he grew up at 11:30 and then again a few more times later. 1 poopie diaper for the day - liquidy but a little more slid then total liquid).
February 5th - Feet 7 lips cyanotic in the morning. Cyanotic feet all day (not super blue just bluish). NOt eating his normal self. I poopie diaper of A LOT of very soft/liquidy poo.

Called the nurse-line at his pediatrician on the 5th (today). She said it must be a nasty bug and her suggestions were:
Eat no later then 2 hours before he goes to bed. Make it light food like pasta, jello... Offer him stuff like the Gerber Fruit water.
Watch the cyanosis. If it gets worse, or he is lethargic or starts coughing call. he might has aspirated some of the vomit.

I explained how he just isn't himself.. I know my son and there is something amiss.... hopefully it goes away or they figure it out soon. I miss my Happy Owen!

So THAT is why I haven't' posted much.... too much sickness around here. I haven't been at the computer much!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04018600069760727862noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6804494526605031324.post-15649467256874351062009-01-07T19:46:00.003-05:002009-01-07T19:54:46.971-05:00Ok - this one is NOT about the kids...Ok - so once in awhile something like this will sleep in.
Sorry.

So, I was looking at FaceBook which is one of my guilty pleasures.

Anyway, looking at friends* pictures I see group shots. While people who wouldn't have given me the time of day back then, I now chat with online. People whom I shared a mutual dislike for, now seem more appealing and we get along well (again online).

So while the "walls" are broken down through all this time, the cliques are still there. It's sad for me to see everyone posting pictures hanging out with friends that they've had for years. Last picture of me & a friend I have is from back in high school.

I am jealous of the people who maintained those relationships. I guess they had more to offer then I did. I am jealous of their social life whereas mine consists of playing board games with my husband after the kids go to bed (while I totally love and value this time, getting out with him and some friends would be a nice change of pace).

So that's my pity-party vent. Thanks for reading (if ya did).

* the term friends is used loosely. Basically it means people i went to school with for years.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04018600069760727862noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6804494526605031324.post-20243450646854886982009-01-01T20:25:00.003-05:002009-01-01T20:41:03.061-05:00My baby is NOT a doll!Ok... Owen is a sweetheart and in THAT sense, yes he is a doll but a physical doll... not quite!

My niece is infatuated with Owen (rightfully so). He is cute and sweet and usually happy and well... the baby of the family.

Let me start off saying we were at my mom's for New Year's dinner. Apparently, Cole said he liked my nephew best (leaving my niece out). I spoke to him and told him that wasn't nice and while he may have a favorite, you should never say that in front of someone. He agreed my nephew was his best friend (he doesn't know the meaning... as my husband says, "he thinks he's gonna marry me." so obviously, he's still too young for certain concepts). Anyway.. I know this is crap because he asks for HER to come over all the time, NOT him. As soon as he wakes up he asks for her. He loves her to pieces even though they have NOTHING in common. Anyway... she was in a sad mood because of that.

She wanted to play with Owey. He lets her do most things. I ask she stay on the floor with him and not carry him. What does she do? Keep carrying him and trying to put him on her tiny lap on the couch. I ask to put him down and she doesn't listen. her mom is right there and doesn't say anything. He slipped down her one time Ont the floor and no one saw but me and she saw that I saw and stopped for a minute and proceeded back.

Owen is adamant lately about walking,. He is trying his darnedest to get this walking thing down. He doesn't like to be held onto and likes to do things on his own. I asked that she leave him as he was trying to walk. I told her one or 2 times more as did my mother. She went over to her mom and Owen, who was next to me, turned around and walked half-way across the room to my mom (about 15 steps or so). I quickly told my niece what he just did. I went back to watching him. He crawled back to me after falling 1 or 2 times more attempting to come back. She came over and tried to hold his hands and take them off of what he was holding onto. I asked her to please leave him alone because he is trying to walk and wants to do it on his own (he snapped his hand back from her and started batting it in his "get away" motion"). My sister-in-law (I forgot the wording now as it was 2+ hours ago) grabbed her and on the way out of the room said something like, "She doesn't nee dot be crushed anymore then she already is."

EXCUSE ME? back the F-up here.. My 10 month old is being dragged around by a 5-1.2 year old and she wont leave him alone when he wants to be left alone and I am the bad guy? WTF? So, Tom said, time to go and we all packed up and left...

Tom was now in a piss-ass mood and took it out on everyone.. welcome to my life.. i walk on eggshells with that man and he is seriously worse then the kids. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04018600069760727862noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6804494526605031324.post-54058382710289989252008-12-22T07:44:00.002-05:002008-12-22T08:15:43.368-05:00You take the good....OK... Maybe it's because they aren't out of bed yet and there is still peace in the house but... I am proud of my kiddos.

I sent a message to a friend whose phone lost a tooth. I didn't even think he was old enough for that and he isn't much older then Cole. That made me think...

Cole. He's 4-1/2 years old.

He taught himself to read. He can read the chapter books but kinda gets bored but he can read them. He can read just about anything even words you think would be too tough.

If that weren't enough, apparently the kid can spell too! Yesterday he wanted to add something to his Santa List (a black & white marble notebook like the ones we grew up using in school). I helped him spell it (I don't remember what it was right now). I had to run to the store and pickup Tom's prescription (right around the corner and it's a drive-thru so it was quick). I get home and saw another page in his book.

"Marro Supr Sggs"

OK... so he was a bit off but I knew exactly what it was! Mario Super Sluggers. I think he didn't really try for the last word but man! He's 4-1/2 and can spell? And this came as a surprise to me? We already have to spell fast in front of him or he can figure it out... in his head!

I should also add... he can add! Yup, my kid id teaching himself how to add and subtract.

Talk about a geekling... I guess what else could the spawn of me & Tommy be BUT a geek?! :)

Hunter. 2-1/2 years old.

1st off, this kid is more charismatic then you can imagine. It's everyone he sees. It's an amazing thing to watch but his smile.. OMG do i melt every time I see that Hunter smile with those little teeth and that little gap and the eyes that scrunch up. And his bear hugs.. seriously it's one of the best hugs ever!

OK... Now... Hunter ain't no fool either. He, I think, is also at the VERY beginning stages of reading. He can do some sight words already and he knows the kids names in his class (from seeing their names by their coats and associating it with them). Example: I made a list for his Halloween party so I knew what names had to go on the buckets.I wrote in script and kinda messy. It was upside down to him. He was like, "Abby, Ariane, Mina, Evan, Braxton, Hunter" I was floored. I spoke to the teachers and they hadn't tried to teach them other kids names. That was totally him. He's done stuff like that a few times. You can just see the gears going on his head.

I cant think off-hand anymore of what he does but yeah... another smart kid. Oh yeah, he potty-trained himself before the age of 2... pretty good for a boy!

Owen. 10 months.

Hard to compare but he does some cool things.

He is up to 9-steps. He probably would been walking already if it wasn't for a raging ear infection he had. It made him feel like crap and well, ear infections lead to balance issues so.... another early walker.

Owen basically said good-bye to baby food. He doesn't like most baby food... he wants real deal stuff and would rather feed himself.

Owen is also a charasmatic little fella. He loves people and his smile is too precious. He smiles and then scrunches up his nose which makes him over-the-top cute! And to top-THAT-off, when he's exited that smile comes with a snorty noise.

It's hard to tell Owen's intelligence but motor skill-wise, he blows the other 2 out of the water.... while they were advanced.. he's just that much more. I thin Owen's gonna be the one we gotta watch out for... and they say IQ drops subsequently with each kid. HA! We laugh at that statement (especially since i am the baby in the family!).Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04018600069760727862noreply@blogger.com1
